Gender community

In 2014, the CERCA Institution created a specific diversity committee to discuss and propose tools and measures aimed at eliminating these biases and barriers so that highly qualified human capital is not wasted. Since then, specific campaigns have been organized in areas such as hiring or the prevention of sexist violence.

In 2025, with the creation of the I-CERCA Gender Unit, a community of debate and collaboration aimed at people who are part of the equality committees of the CERCA centres is created.

The main objectives of the community are the following:

  • Coordinate the tasks necessary to develop the objectives of the Gender Equality Strategy in Science (EIGEC).
  • Provide support in compliance with gender and LGBTI regulations in the workplace (equality plans and protocols).
  • Share good practices between centers.
  • Develop training and programs aimed at reducing gender bias in research.
